Nitronic XM-19 bar and rod is an austenitic stainless steel with high strength, corrosion resistance, and high ductility. This alloy contains a composition of about 19% chromium, 9% nickel, 1.5% manganese, 0.10% carbon, small amounts of silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and nitrogen. Its excellent corrosion resistance, especially against marine and acid environments, allows it to be used in such applications as valves, shafts, and fasteners. Its mechanical properties involve a tensile strength of 85-100 ksi (585-690 MPa), a yield strength of 50-70 ksi (345-485 MPa), and elongation of 40-45%. This material also gives good formability, weldability, and stress corrosion cracking.
